“ Is it expensive for what it is? Yes, but it's a fun experience and the food and drinks were good enough. The shrimp fried rice was actually delicious. Loved the ambiance and the show, our waiter was new but did a great job even though we were a large table. I probably wouldn't go back any time soon but definitely worth checking out at least once. ”
“ Fantastic atmosphere and restaurant vibe breaking the dining room into smaller tiki huts decorated in Polynesian artifacts, crafts, and artwork. Food was very good but overpriced but the unique experience of the show with dinner made up for it. For reference there were 7 in our party (1 child, 3 teens, and 3 adults who ordered one adult beverage each) and our bill for dinner was just under $400 including gratuity but NOT including the price of show tickets which were another $23 per person. We started with the Pupu platter which was very good but small. I enjoyed the Mai-Kai beef tenderloin. Others in our group enjoyed the Mahi, Salmon, and Huli-huli chicken entrees. We finished with the pineapple upside down cake which was overly sweet. All in all great experience although definitely pricey. ”
“ Went to Mai-Kai for the first time since it has reopened and it was great! We sat at table HAW24 and even with a big party sat next to us, we still had a great view of the performance. Drinks are slightly more expensive than you'd get anywhere else but they have a lot of very good choices. I got a Tahitian breeze and my boyfriend got a black magic. I ordered teriyaki beef and my boyfriend ordered the Mai-Kai beef, both came almost identical, which was a bit disappointing as on the menu they were quite different. Our amazing waitress told us that the chef had been changing some things on the menu and offered a replacement meal, in which I then ordered the spicy honey guava chicken, AMAZING!! Enjoyed my experience and enjoyed the food. The outside garden section is a nice little walk after your meal. ”
“ The newly remodeled Mai-Kai is nothing short of totally amazing. I won't even get into the decor and the ambiance because you should just experience it for yourself and be amazed. The staff is so respectful and helpful and patient and friendly. It is amazing that they could find so many great people to be able to staff this huge place! Let's talk about cocktails! The Mai-Kai has custom cocktails that you can ONLY FIND AT THE MAI-KAI. Don't ask for a Mai Tai - try something off the menu. All of their drinks are remarkable. They have non-alcoholic cocktails too. You will need to visit three or four times to be able to try half the menu and gain an appreciation. Take your time and enjoy different parts of the restaurant or the new outdoors bar. ”
“ Post renovation- my favorite is the new entrance and the outdoor bar. I'm a big tiki fan and have been to a few across the US- Mai Kai is closest to home and the drinks are yummy and the atmosphere is nice. I haven't seen the show post renovation- but it was a fun experience before and I'd assume it's just as fun now. The servers are very attentive and the hosts are always nice. The valet can be a little crazy though- I'd suggest an uber/drop off if possible and also so you can drink more! One of the biggest downfalls I find of Mai Kai is that inside the bar, you are attended by servers and they don't make the drinks in front of you. But overall- it is a fun experience if you're a tiki fan. ”
“ Woohoo! The MaiKai has officially reopened. Think Trader Vic's on steroids and you've got the right mental image 4 stars across the board for food / drink, service and ambience. Food is roughly similar to just about any pan-Polynesian-kinda-Hawaiian-luau feast. Ambience is the same: a giant tiki hut vibe with dancers. Service had a few hiccups but may just be newly reopening bumps. ”
